In my first term in the State Senate, I was focused on bringing jobs to Wisconsin, giving students a choice and opportunity for a quality education, balancing the state budget, lowering taxes, and keeping our streets and homes safe.
In my next term, I intend to keep the nose to the grindstone with same goals in mind.
In my first Legislative Session, I offered 15 bills designed to grow the economy and jobs in Wisconsin. We saw immediate results, our economy starting taking steps forward – and job creators noticed. 94% of business leaders say our state is heading in the right direction, and our ranking in CEO Magazine has gone from 41st to 14th in just 4 short years.
When I entered office, our state was facing a $3.6 billion deficit, and hundreds of millions in unpaid bills. My priority was to make sure that we balanced the budget without raising taxes – and we were successful. We proved that you can balance a budget through reform and spending cuts – and we decreased property taxes for the first time in 12 years!
Bringing school choice to Racine was my top education priority in my first legislative session. Thanks to my efforts over 1,200 students have been able to choose the education that best fits them. I also put taxpayers back in charge of education – instead of powerful unions – and allowed school districts to put resources back into the classroom, without loss of service.
As a lifetime NRA member, and a former Board Member of the Racine County Line Rifle Club, I understand and support your second amendment rights. During my first term, I fought for Constitutional Carry with an optional permit for reciprocity purposes, and authored the Castle Doctrine. As the 49th state to pass concealed carry legislation, I will continue to lead the fight to reduce restrictions on your 2nd Amendment rights!
I am proud to be pro-life, and proud of my 100% pro-life voting record from Wisconsin Right-to-Life. I am equally proud of my 0 % voting record from Planned Parenthood and NARAL, which is why I was their number one target in the 2012 recalls. But no matter the opposition, I will continue to fight for the sanctity of life.
As a former police officer with 30 years experience, I spent most of my adult life protecting our streets, homes and most importantly, our families. Public Safety is more than just locking up criminals, it is taking steps to protect our community and children.
